About the project

For the new Mediawijs website, imec was looking for a partner skilled in design and development and to support their broader strategy. The goal was to create a user-centric site that helps people in Flanders to use digital technology and media actively, creatively, critically and consciously. The CMS offers editors the flexibility to address daily news and training. Additionally, there was a strong emphasis on enhancing accessibility and SEO.

Wieni was involved from the very start. Our involvement included conducting workshops, creating interface and visual designs, handling backend and frontend development, providing hosting, managing the domain name, and ensuring SLA coverage (on weekdays during office hours). Consequently, we became an engaged partner for Mediawijs, proactively seeking improvements and optimizations for both users and content editors. We continue to make ongoing enhancements to mediawijs.be.

• One centralized platform for various initiatives such as 'News In The Classroom', 'Mediacoach', 'The Scale of M', etc.
• A flexible Content Management System (Drupal) that enables editors to create overview pages using an extensive block structure.
• Automatic content linking across different pages through a robust tagging system.
• A multilingual site allowing editors to selectively translate content into English and French.
• Connections with external data sources such as Airtable, for building tool databases on the website
